Blazers Game and Choices

Spent the day in Portland today with Caleb, Charlotte, Britt and Alicia at the Portland Trailblazers game. Caleb picked me up at 2pm, then we picked up Char and drove the two hours up to Portland.

As far as games go, basketball is not my favorite sport to watch. Football's No. 1 in my book when it comes to spectator sports, and hockey is just pretty damn exciting. Basketball is kinda slow compared to those two.

But despite all that, it was still pretty fun to hang out with a bunch of people and watch a pro sports game. At halftime, the fans were told that if the Blazers scored more than 100 points in the game, everyone in the arena would get free chalupas from Taco Bell.

The Blazers left it till pretty late in the game, but they finally hit the magic 100 mark with a minute to go in the 4th quarter. The whole arena erupted in a roar. See, the Blazers suck so bad that everyone is just happy when they get free stuff. It doesn't really matter whether the Blazers win or lose. Losing is expected. A win is an added bonus. haha

We tried to leave the game a little bit early so that we could beat the rush of people desperate to get out of the parking lot at the end. But we couldn't find the damn car and ended up spending twenty minutes looking for it.

Finally we drove back to Eugene-- stopping at Taco Bell to redeem our coupons for our free chalupas on the way-- and Caleb dropped me off at Crystal's where the normal congregation of people was gathering to watch the L Word.

Crystal also handed out invitations to Angela's birthday party. And that brings me to my problem. The Party is next Saturday. Crystal is going all out and hyping this thing up to make it sound like the party of the year. It's a Circus-themed party complete with bouncy castle and dunk tank for chrissakes.

The bottom line: It'll be a fucking lot of fun. But at the same time, I have a lacrosse tournament next Saturday. Next weekend really. We're supposed to be playing in Portland at PNLA, which is the tournament that concludes our season. Call it the championships if you will.

At any rate, I now have a choice to make. Go up to Portland for lacrosse and miss the party, or fake an injury and stay in Eugene.

I can't believe I'm actually contemplating this. It makes me realize-- with somewhat of a shock-- that my life no longer revolves solely around lacrosse. Suddenly I have other options. And all these different dimensions seem to have taken on new importance in my life.

Wtf do I do now?
