Its All About Respect
Okay, so I didn't get the Duck U sports reporter post. Got the email this morning. Both the flashy power-suit wearing black bitches got positions, as did the ditzy blonde walking Resume Narrator. But that's okay. I didn't really go in with any expectations to begin with.
The larger fall out from the auditions however is that Mun Lee quit Duck U. She was over at our house yesterday with Rachel, and told me that she'd tended her resignation and that she was sorry that she'd made me go audition. The news producer just quit! Why?
Well she said that after the auditions, when they were all trying to decide which candidates to pick, she'd disagreed with all their picks. According to her, the rest of the producers were just picking people who were their friends, or people who looked good. Not those who actually had talent. So she got fed up, and along with two other producers, she quit the show the next day.
I tell you it takes balls to do that. To walk out on something you've devoted yourself to for four years in a statement of protest. Mun Lee was journalism peasantry when she got into Duck U. She auditioned, but never got parts. Eventually she ended up getting involved only because she would hang around the studio all the time and just do the dog work. She worked through the ranks from lowly production lackey, to reporter and finally producer.
And now in her senior year, when she's finally supposed call the shots of the news department as news producer, she up and quits in indignance. I respect her for that. Because a lesser person would just have swallowed their pride and sat tight instead of standing up for what she believed in.
